Andreas Klow is the menswear enthusiast who is so enthusiastic that he has become an established style profile, alongside his regular job as a lawyer. His Instagram profile name Flannels and tweed says a lot about what underpins his style. Skolyx met him during this summer's Pitti Uomo fair.
Perhaps it's above all his high visibility during Pitti Uomo that has made him a household name in menswear circles. The extremely social Andreas Klow thrives like a fish in water these days in Florence, where he comes twice a year - with some hiatus during the pandemic, although he was down for the last two small editions too. He is a resident in Malmö, Sweden's third largest city, who works as a lawyer, while his hobby photography has now also led him to do some photo work for Plaza Uomo magazine, for example.
The more relaxed take on classic menswear that Andreas has worn for many years is much more common to see on more people these days. It involves coarser fabrics like flannel and tweed in winter, paired with high boots, and then basically just linen paired with loafers during summer.
- I'm a loafer guy all the way. I find them comfortable, easy to put on and take off, and they go well with my other clothes, they can be dresset both up and down, says Andreas.
What do you choose first, clothes or shoes?
- It depends a bit on my mood that day, but it's not unusual for me to want a specific shoe, and then I know what goes with it. Then I have shoes that are more anonymous and that just are being added.
Of those who are interested in style, there is often a lot of shoe interest, why do you think that is?
- I think it's because if you have nice shoes, it shows. Shoes are always visible, and people know that. It's obvious to everybody. Can have a simple outfit but good shoes will do it.

How would you say the evolution of the shoe side of "menswear" has been over the last decade?
- Quality has become cheaper, and people are learning that. If you build a wardrobe of ten pairs of shoes over time, you can have something for every occasion. If you buy right, you will go far. And people realise that wearing a good pair of shoes is a pleasure.
And what do you think the development will be in the next ten years?
- For example, the soft walk soles, and that kind of stuff, there will be more of that. People want things softer.
