Smooth leather and grain leather

For this type of leather, often called full grain leather, since the whole natural top surface of the hides are kept, it's extra important to nourish and protect it since the harder surface may otherwise dry out and crack. The beauty of it though is that with the right products, it can be brought back to life constantly over and over again even after tough use, and it will only become more beautiful as a natural patina develops.

Note that it's not recommended to use waterproofing spray on regular smooth leather or embossed grain leather. Even if it makes the leather more waterproof, it hinders essential nourishing oils and waxes from shoe creams or conditioners to penetrate the leather, so it risks drying out due to this.
