All shoes in suede, nubuck or textile should be waterproofed before use, and after every cleaning session. They may also need to be restored if you use the shoes for a longer time without cleaning.

Note that it's not recommended to use waterproofing spray on regular smooth leather or embossed grain leather. Even if it makes the leather more waterproof, it hinders essential nourishing oils and waxes from shoe creams or conditioners to penetrate the leather, so it risks drying out due to this.
