Our much appreciated collaboration with Indonesian Midas Bootmaker continues, now also together with acclaimed Taiwanese sole manufacturer Dr. Sole. The price of these, given the quality and level of craftsmanship, is simply amazing. As before, the number of these shoes we receive is limited, since production capacity is small in the Midas workshop. The shoes are made entirely by hand (apart from the machine stitching of the uppers), they are lasted by hand, hand welted, and with a sole stitch sewn by hand.

We are now introducing them at the same price as Midas has been sold at previously, 4 999 SEK / €469 incl. VAT / $365 excl. VAT, since we know that many of you have been waiting for these. However, we will have to raise the price to 5 499 SEK / €519 incl. VAT / $405 excl. VAT, due to current exchange rates and increased shipping costs, this will be done in two weeks.

Three new models
New are two service boots with cap toe made with hand welted Veldtschoen construction means that the upper leather is turned outwards and lies on top of the welt (while the lining leather is still attached with the welt seam to the insole, as on normal welted shoes), this makes them even more resistant to water. Available in dark brown or mid-brown pull-up leather with great character, which received so much praise from our first batch of Midas shoes.

Then we have a new version of the Skolyx-exclusive moc toe model we developed with Midas. The leather we have chosen to use for this model is something very special. It's an all natural, undyed and untreated semi veg tanned leather. The leather is tanned with the two different types of tanning to get the best qualities from both, the great natural patina and character of the veg-tanned, and the increased suppleness and finer creasing of the chrome-tanned.

Unique leather
Initially the leather is a very light tone, but with use the leather will darken and take on an absolutely stunning patina, which will be completely individual to each pair of shoes and which can be steered in different directions depending on use and products.

Just like our pull-up leather, it's made by a friend of Midas's founder, who buys local hides and his own tanning agents, then travels to a tannery in Yogyakarta where he rents tanning drums and equipment for a short period, and stays there and tans the hides himself. Batches are therefore very limited, and when they run out it may be some time before he can return to the tannery and make new leather.

Soles from acclaimed Dr. Sole
Underneath are Dr. Sole's superb soles, their Supergrip on the service boots, a lightweight wedge sole on the moc toe. Dr. Sole has taken the workwear boot world by storm in recent years, with their historically inspired soles made from the best possible rubber compounds.

Indonesia is one of the world's foremost centres for the manufacture of workwear boots, a tradition that dates back to when the country was a Dutch colony, but which has evolved and been refined over the decades since the country became independent in the 1940s. Uniquely, however, it still does everything almost exclusively by hand, not with machines like that lasts the shoes, Goodyear machines and McKay machines for sole stitching and so on, but with awl, needle, knife, hammer etc. Production is in most cases very small-scale, Midas / Winson is a small workshop of eight people that only produces about 30 pairs of shoes a month.

Made to be used hard
These are boots that are made to really be used hard, and will only look better and better with age. Made from thick leather, both in terms of uppers and uppers sole leather, they require a certain amount of time to break in but then becomes one with your feet.

Below the three new models, and further down our three previous models from Midas (where we stocked up on the moc toe in brown). All of these can also be found here on our websitePrice €469 incl VAT / $365 excl. VAT, strike now before we raise the price to €519 incl. VAT / $405 excl. VAT on October 17.

Above is an example of how the semi vegetable tanned leather can age, where the left piece of leather has only been laying outside for a month, the right one exposed to more for a longer time.
