During last week's men's fashion fair in Florence, many exhibitors showed off the footwear that are supposed to be on the market next year, and there is a lot pointing to where the somewhat vaguely defined "quality shoe sphere" is headed. Skolyx summarises.

We've touched on some of this in the posts here on the site where we've summarised the various days, but here we take a more focused approach to what we could see among the shoe exhibitors. There is a lot of talk about how classic men's style in general has moved towards being more casual, and this was evident at Pitti as well. The summer edition has naturally always been a bit more informal than the winter edition, but if you compare what people looked like here five years ago or so, it's still generally a more relaxed look.
This is also evident on the exhibition floor. On the shoe side, it's clear that loafers are taking up more and more space, not just the usual welted penny and tassel loafers, but all sorts of them. You can also see that even the most conservative British Northampton firms have a good range of sneakers and trainers nowadays. No one gets away from these shoes anymore.
