We are pleased to introduce our own patent leather shoes. THE shoe to wear together with a tuxedo or tailcoat on formal occasions, like the New Year's Eve party or the prom. Here in a clean version with a plain toe, made on an elegant round toe last, just the same look as our Goodyear welted plain cap toe oxfords from Skolyx and also Yanko's on 962.
The shoes are Blake stitched in Portugal exclusively for Skolyx, and as all our own shoes they are made with a thin so called city rubber sole, very practical also on a patent leather shoe so you without a problem can walk outside and for example watch the fireworks on New Year's Eve even if it's harsh weather. Heel stiffener in leather board which conforms to your feet, and fully leather lined.
Construction:
Blake stitched.
Leather board heel stiffeners which adapt to your feet (cheaper brands usually use plastic heel stiffeners which makes the shoes hard to break in).
Sole:
Thin city rubber sole developed by us were we have been part of choosing the rubber used and the profile and pattern. The sole has a slim profile just like a leather sole and very good durability due to the rubber material.
Sizes:
Sizes are considered normal, they are comparable to Goodyear welted shoes like Yanko, TLB Mallorca, Loake, Crockett & Jones and Carmina. Here you'll find an extensive size guide to all our shoes. If you are still uncertain on your size, please e-mail ktj@skolyx.se for further guidance.
Shoe care:
Saphir Vernise Rife in black is used to clean, cover marks, protect and achieve a shine on the patent leather. Recommended to use just before use to remove stains from for example fingers and bring up the best of shine.

Construction:
Blake construction is a traditional construction method where one do a seam through the insole, upper leather and outsole to keep them strongly together. This is done with a Blake sewing machine. The construction gives flexible, comfortable shoes. Can normally be resoled by a cobbler with the right equipment, but a limited amount of times.
All Blake stitched shoes have leather board heel stiffeners (cheaper brands usually use harder plastic heel stiffeners) which adapt to your feet.
Leather:
The Blake stitched shoes we offer use smooth full grain calf leather, quality embossed calf grain leather or fine suede like reverse kudu suede. They are sourced from well-renowned European tanneries, mainly from Charles F. Stead in the UK. The models in patent leather use material from Europe.
Sole:
There are two different types of soles used for the Blake constructed shoes we sell (under the tab Product details and on the photos you see which are used for respective model).
Thin rubber sole - A so-called city rubber sole with a slim profile just like a leather sole, with a rubber composition that offers good grip and excellent durability.
Rubber sole - In most cases these are so-called Traveler soles which is a soft and flexible rubber sole type that are very comfortable.
