Nowadays the cement used is strong and can often last long, but resoling the shoes is usually trickier. Often a cobbler only attach a new wear piece on top of the original outsole, to make the shoes last longer.
Basic shoe care:
- Avoid wearing the same pair two days in a row. Shoes need time to dry up, otherwise they will wear out faster.
- Brush / wipe off your sneakers after use to remove dirt that otherwise will increase wear and tear.
- Use shoe trees and a shoehorn to retain the shape of your shoes and make them last longer.
- Treat leather with shoe cream or a moisturising conditioner / suede and textiles with waterproofing spray
- Something that makes a big difference to the overall impression is a sole edge dye that restores the sole edge, here we have Tarrago Sneakers Total White for white or Total Black for black.

Further info on cleaning and care:
When your shoes are really dirty, clean them with a good shoe cleaner, like Tarrago WASC! Sneakers Super Cleaner (always use shoe cream / conditioner on leather or waterproofing spray on suede after cleaning them).
A common thing to appear on rubber soles are so called rubber blooming. It's a natural process where certain compounds in rubber migrate to the surface, creating a whitish or cloudy film. It is harmless and can usually be removed by cleaning the rubber. For example with Tarrago Rubber Cleaner and Conditioner..
