Skolyx Premium GAT sneaker with white sole

Our range of premium sneakers are perhaps the best bang-for-the-buck-sneakers you can get your hands on in the world. Here's a mix between the classic GAT - German Army Trainer - and the modern minimalistic sneakers that are so popular today.

Made in a white chrome free full grain calfskin, high quality light grey calf suede and lined entirely in natural coloured vegetable tanned leather. When we started working with a, for us, new factory in Portugal, we have gone through all the parts of the shoes, and have achieved top class specifications yet keeping the price very competitive.

Below all the details of the shoes:
- High quality chrome free full grain calf leather uppers.
- Fully lined in Italian vegetable tanned leather which is kind to the foot and breathes well.
- A thick built-up and cushioned insole, covered with vegetable tanned leather.
- Comfortable padding along the opening and in the tongue.
- Comfortable rubber soles made of partly recycled rubber.
- Leather board heel stiffeners that moulds nicely to the foot, instead of plastic heel stiffeners which are by far the most common in sneakers.
- Midsole (which is like a base inside the shoe under the removable insole) in more durable leather, instead of being made of a felt cloth or cardboard as in almost all other sneakers.
- Shank in arch of the foot which gives the shoe comfortable stability in the area that is not supposed to bend.
- Made with a sidewall stitched construction, which can be resoled by cobblers with the right equipment.

Note: Some pairs have removable insoles that are slightly generous in size, which may cause them to fold in the front. You can easily fix this by removing the sole and cutting off a few millimetres at the front edge. The reason for this is that we use insoles we've developed ourselves that are only made for our shoes, and they only come in one version per size and sometimes they don't match the shoes completely.

The cemented construction is the most basic construction method for shoes. Here the upper together with midsole / lasting board (as is the case for all our Skolyx shoes made with this construction, where a proper real leather midsole is used) or in simpler cases a fabric sole base is attached to the outsole with only adhesives, no stitching.

Nowadays the cement used is strong and can often last long, but resoling the shoes is usually trickier. Often a cobbler only attach a new wear piece on top of the original outsole, to make the shoes last longer.
