A casual chelsea with a soft and comfortable crepe sole, made with a so-called Stitchdown construction. This means that the upper leather is turned outwards and sewn into a leather midsole, onto which the rubber sole is attached. A construction that can handle wet conditions well, and which easily can be re-soled by a cobbler. Made on round toe last S292, in dark brown Repello gum oil suede from the well-known British tannery Charles F. Stead.
Yanko is one of the oldest still active classic shoe brands from Spain, founded in 1961. They were one of the world's largest manufacturers of Goodyear welted shoes in the late 20th century, producing over a million pairs of shoes each year. Today they are much smaller, but have a solid reputation as an affordable manufacturer of quality shoes.
Note that on this type of Stitchdown construction there are often marks in the uppers from the sole stitching machine, this is normal and it often becomes less visible over time when the shoes have been worn. Also, linings and stiffeners are turned outwards (because of this, soft celastic stiffeners are used here, in order to be able to bend them in the required way) and can therefore be visible along the edge.
Construction:
Stitchdown. Upper turns outward, sewn into leather midsole, to which the outsole is attached. Can easily be re-soled.
Sole:
Crepe sole made of natural rubber.
Sizes:
The shoes are slightly small in size, most go up 0.5 in size if you have a normal / slightly wide foot (if you have a slightly narrower foot, however, most people choose the same size) compared to welted shoes from, for example, Skolyx, TLB Mallorca, Loake, Crockett & Jones and Carmina's sizes. Here you'll find an extensive size guide to all our shoes. If you are still uncertain on your size, please e-mail ktj@skolyx.se for further guidance.
Shoe care:
Use Saphir Super Invulner for protection and Saphir Suede Renovator Spray in dark brown when you need to freshen up the color. Use a suede brush to brush out dust and dirt.

With the Stitchdown construction, the upper is turned outwards, sewn to a vegetable tanned leather midsole, onto which the outsole is attached with glue. They can easily be resoled by just removing the outsole from the midsole, while the sole stitch is intact.
